Frequently Asked Questions

I just submitted an inquiry. What next?
Once I receive your inquiry through our website, I follow up via your preferred contact method. Then, I use the email you provided to send you an order form. Should you choose to book with me, you'll get an invoice deposit for the cost of your frame: Either $150 for a premium standard frame or $250 for a premium floating frame, along with a contract to secure your date! About a week away from your big day, I will reach out again to confirm your bouquet pick-up or drop-off. Once I have your flowers, I start preserving right away. I'll typically send you photos to confirm a frame style based on the answers in your order form. Feel free to send me inspiration photos as well!

How long will my project take?
Proper flower preservation is not a quick or straight forward process. In peak season (May through September), your project can take anywhere from 8-12 weeks.
-
Why does floral preservation take so long?!
The drying process alone takes 4 weeks minimum! Outside of simply letting the petals press or dehydrate, each full-preservation project takes minimum 10 hours. With resin projects added on, this can easily increase to 20 hours to complete one project. In peak season, I am often working with over 40 clients. Doing the math...this adds up! Rest assured that I am doing my best to carefully attend to your precious florals, and you can always reach out to request a progress update!

What does flower pressing entail?
When I receive your flowers, the process includes several stages: First, I must deconstruct every flower petal by petal and put into the press. Once dried, the petals are individually color-corrected. Then, the petals must be re-constructed into their original form. Next, I take the re-constructed flowers and create a piece of art! After a final buffing and dusting of the frame glass, I securely package your project and ship it back to you.

What do the 3D projects entail?
For 3D projects, I submerge your flowers in professional grade silica gels. The gels must be activated to re-use, which takes 1-2 hours and must be done in several batches (this can be an all-day process!) After they are finished drying, they must be lifted out of the gels individually and brushed to remove all remaining silica sand particles. Then, an airbrush is used alongside mixed paints to color-correct each flower to its original shade. Finally, the flowers are glued securely into a shadow box frame and packaged safely to ship to you.

You pricing tiers don't quite fit my vision. Is that okay?
Absolutely! My pricing tiers are based on the most commonly ordered projects, but Flowressence is not limited to those plans. If you don't see what you want, contact me and we can work on a project that fits your vision. For more non-traditional project ideas, see the "Crafts" section in the portfolio tab.
